Ashaya Yoga Essentials Workshop in Sarasota
Garden of the Heart Yoga Center is the only yoga studio in the Sarasota area currently teaching Ashaya® Yoga. Ashaya, which means the abode of the heart, is a heart-centered, therapeutic, yet powerful style of alignment-based Hatha Yoga founded by Todd Norian. In the summer, Cheryl Chaffee, E-RYT500, will begin leading a 200 hour Ashaya Yoga Teacher Training to help spread this system of yoga to more yogis in Sarasota and neighboring communities.
On May 4, 1–4 p.m., Chaffee will lead a three-hour workshop called Ashaya Yoga Essentials. This is an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the method and to dip into the philosophy of Tantra Yoga. Tantra is the idea that spirit and matter are not separate, but are woven together, and the body is a conduit to experience one's own spirituality.
In this workshop, participants will learn the Four Essentials of Ashaya Yoga: how to open, engage, align, then expand the mind, body and heart. Chaffee will break down each step of the Four Essentials, so participants will gain a strong foundation in the Ashaya method by practicing yoga postures in a slow, systematic way.
This workshop is suitable for newer students, as well as more experienced yogis who want to refine their alignment. It's for anyone who wants to open their hearts to a greater sense of awakening. It's also a solid introduction for anyone who has considered joining the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training which begins on August 13.
Cost: $40. Walk-ins are welcome. Mats and props are provided, or you can bring your own. For more information, visit the “Workshops” tab at GardenOfTheHeartYoga.com. To learn more about the 200-hour program, visit GardenOfTheHeartYoga.com/Trainings.
