“Get active this summer and don’t sweat the small stuff,”

Balance is essential in any climate, but summertime in Florida needs a special kind of balance. Increased activity in warmer temperatures means there is increased opportunity for both heat stroke and intense emotion. In Feng Shui, summer is associated with yang or hot energy. Too much of this hot energy can make us feel tired, listless and just plain burned out. Balance comes in the indulgence of cooling and quiet times. So take advantage of that evening swim and the ice-cold air conditioning in your meditation space.

Balance the hot yang energy of fire with cooling water colors like ice blue or pale greens. Use a lighter weight and lighter color blanket for your bed which can also make a huge impact. When it comes to fashion, add cooling blues, greens, pinks or grays into your home decor and clothing choices. In your home and office, turn off the overhead lights and utilize natural daylight. Also be sure to eat cooling, raw foods such as melons and salads, while lessening hot foods such as curry, beef and lamb. Keep it cool and enjoy!
