Kids’ Virtual Summer Beach Runs

The popular annual Kids’ Summer Beach Runs event, which combines exercise and fun for the entire family, will not be hosted on-site at Siesta Beach or Brohard Beach this summer due to COVID-19. Instead, participants can pick the dates, times and locations of their four one-mile runs. The free event, presented by Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources; New Balance of Sarasota; and Sarasota Crew, began June 2 and runs through July 29.

Participants who run four times will earn an event t-shirt. Online preregistration is required to be eligible for the T-shirt. A drive-through t-shirt pickup will be held at two locations from 5 to 7 p.m.: Siesta Beach on June 30 or July 28 and Brohard Beach on July 1 or July 29. Since the organizers will not see the runners on the sand this year, they are asking participants to share their photos with them by using #SRQCountyParks and #KidsSummerBeachRuns in their social media posts.
