Healthy Strategies to Ease Worry in the New Year

This has been a difficult year for so many. The world seems chaotic, and human suffering continues to escalate. During turbulent times, it is crucial to remain balanced. It’s important to remember that you are a small part of the larger whole. You are not responsible for the world’s chaos, so don’t waste valuable energy or time on what you cannot control.  

Instead, feel compassion for those who are in pain, do what you can for them and release what you are unable to change. Don’t carry the weight of the world—be grateful for your own world. One of my favorite ways to relax and ease the tension is to soak in a tub of hot water with Epsom salts and let the worries melt away. Prior to bedtime, this is a wonderful way to enter the world of dreams and renewal, otherwise known as sleep.  

Find your own healing methods of stress relief. Practice consulting your body for stored areas of tension. Check om with your neck, shoulders and back. Relax them deliberately. Stretch often over the course of each day. Take deep, conscious breaths and allow your entire body to relax. Be kind to each soul you cross paths with. Don’t spend too much time on the internet, as it can distance you from the experience of real life. Remember, be here now.
