Many parents with ADHD have kids with ADHD, too. Because who doesn't love a mini-me with the same problems (or more!) following you around for 18+ years, right? It can make life even more complex - nay, overwhelming!

But somehow, people do it - they traverse this minefield mostly intact (if a bit shell-shocked). But it's easier to do it with the support of someone who has lived it and who gets you - who won't look down on you and help you get yourself up, but will laugh in acknowledgment as I support you up. My own coach shared an awesome idea with me that really helped - do you want a guru shouting from the top of the mountain, or do you want a sherpa who leads you from 2 steps ahead?

Thriving doesn't happen alone - it happens in a community of people who have been there before, and it happens with love and acceptance of our shared VAST - Variable Attention Stimulation Traits (Dr. Ned Hallowell's definition, which I like better).
